The city of Sheffield enjoys a particularly attractive location in this part of Yorkshire and just a relatively short drive from the city are a host of attractions, just waiting to be discovered. The Peak District is amongst the most popular of the attractions nearby Sheffield and is one of the country's biggest National Parks, being situated around 8 km / 5 miles from the heart of the city.

Known for its breathtaking scenery and tranquility, other attractions in the Peak District include a series of walking and cycle trails, and enticing small villages. The Peak Rail steam train rides are an especially appealing way to explore the Peak District and beyond, and the Peak Rail departs from Matlock, a 15-minute drive from central Sheffield.


Also close to Sheffield are the many attractions of the White Peak, where you will find limestone dales and a number of natural springs. The nearby Dark Peak has become known for its jagged outcrops of rocks and open areas of Moorland.
