Frome Hotels and Accommodation
(Frome, Somerset, England, UK)
Accommodation in the market town of Frome is relatively limited, with only a handful of hotels, guest houses and pubs to choose between. Right in the town centre, overlooking the Market Cross, the George Hotel offers bed and breakfast lodging, with a number of rooms accompanied by a busy downstairs pub and restaurant. The convenient central location means that all of the town's main shops and banks are literally metres away from The George, with the Westway precinct and cinema situated just around the corner.
Several other B&Bs are also available around the town, including the Sun Inn on Catherine Street and Trinity House at Goulds Ground. On the southerly outskirts of Frome, just past Little Keyford and close to Tytherington, the Grade-II listed Lighthouse Hotel is worth considering and features four-star accommodation, family rooms and suites, an outdoor swimming pool and extensive grounds, complete with lake and woodland walks.
Budget accommodation is also available around Frome and is best provided by a couple of chain hotels, both of which reside on the Bath
side of town. The recently extended Premier Inn is a hugely popular choice and comes with cheap rooms and an onsite restaurant (Table Table), being located at the entrance to Commerce Park, off Jenson Avenue.
Just up the road (A346) and next to Beckington is the Travelodge Hotel, where basic ensuite rooms provide excellent value for money. Next door, the Little Chef is a good place to come for a cooked breakfast or an evening meal, with discount vouchers available from the Travelodge.
If you are looking for a camping site close to Frome, then the Brokerswood Country Park is a particularly safe bet - roughly a ten-minute drive away and located between Trowbridge and Westbury. Another possibility is the Lower Grange Farm, in the direction of Longleat, where camping is accompanied by bed and breakfast options.
