Knoxville Churches and Cathedrals

(Knoxville, Tennessee - TN, USA)

A number of the churches in Knoxville stand out as being particularly significant, due to their age, appearance or substantial congregations. Particularly notable is the Sevier Heights Baptist Church on the Alcoa Highway, which was established in the 1930s and is to be found on the southerly outskirts of the city, close to IC King Park and just down the road from the Mont Olive Cemetery.

Also standing out in Knoxville is the Greater Warner Tabernacle AME Zion Church (African Methodist Episcopal) on the Martin Luther King Junior Avenue, near the Burlington Fish Market. This historical place of worship began its life in 1796 and has moved several times over the years, finally ending up here, on the north-eastern side of the city, in 1987. Nearby attractions include Chilhowee Park the Discovery Center, Lake Ottsee and the Zoological Park.
