Knoxville Art Galleries

(Knoxville, Tennessee - TN, USA)

Knoxville is not a major artistic center, although art lovers won't find the city devoid of creativity, with interesting art works available for viewing at the numerous galleries. Containing a number of small, specialized art galleries and museums, Knoxville provides visitors with plenty of opportunity to admire everything from antique furnishings, pottery and sculptures to glassworks, photography and ceramics.

One gallery not to be missed is the Knoxville Museum of Art, which actively promotes emerging Tennessee artists and was founded in 1961, moving to its present purpose-built and rather futuristic venue in 1990. Most of the art works on display here tend to be of a contemporary nature, dating from the 20th century onwards and including artists such as Charles Burchfield, Robert Longo and Robert Stackhouse.
