Cincinnati's arts scene is thriving, with several world-class art galleries showcasing the best of Native American, African American art, classic European and American works, as well as being a major center for modern art in the Midwest.

The focus in Cincinnati is predominantly on the much admired Contemporary Arts Center, which has displayed plenty of controversial works over the decades, including Picasso's 'Guernica' and a series of nude photographs by Robert Mapplethorpe. Established in 1881, the Cincinnati Art Museum is also extremely notable and enjoys annual visitor numbers now exceeding 250,000 people. In fact, its vast permanent collection of more than 60,000 art works make this gallery one of the largest and most important in the whole of Midwest America.

Standing in between Eden Park and Johnston Park, and enjoying particularly beautiful surroundings, the Cincinnati Art Museum is home to a wide range of work, including extensive displays of sculpture, photography and Native American art. The fine collection of paintings includes names like Andy Warhol and Picasso.

Contemporary Arts Center

Housed in a newly constructed building, hailed by the New York Times as the most important American building to be completed since the end of the Cold War, the Contemporary Arts Center hosts regular temporary exhibits showcasing the latest in modern art. Never shy of controversy in its exhibits, the center is also home to interactive displays in the UnMuseum. Nearby attractions include the Aronoff Center for the Arts, the Cinti USA Convention and Visitors Center, and a host of eateries and shops.

Taft Museum

This is a stunning Federal-style mansion, built in 1820 and recently restored. Situated close to Lytle Park and just a short distance from the Yeatmans Cove Park, the Taft Museum houses numerous period antiques, as well as an extensive collection of European and American master paintings and a world-class Chinese porcelain display.
Open hours: Tuesday and Wednesday, and Friday - 11:00 to 17:00, Thursday - 11:00 to 20:00, Saturday - 10:00 to 17:00, Sunday - 12:00 to 17:00

Miller Gallery

Established in 1960, Miller Gallery boasts a well earned reputation for showcasing the best of local art works, including fine paintings and a good variety of original works. the Miller hosts numerous shows each year and houses works by famous artists alongside the works of relatively unknown talents, giving the gallery huge variety in styles.
