Baltimore Hotels and Accommodation

(Baltimore, Maryland - MD, USA)

Baltimore's hotels often cater for many business visitors during the week and therefore regularly choose to drop their lodging rates at the weekends. Accommodation in Baltimore comes in the form of big convention-type hotels, which are in plentiful supply around the Inner Harbor area.

Lodging in Baltimore also comprises an array of quite inexpensive B&Bs and guest houses, which tend to be based around the suburbs of Canton, Federal Hill and Fells Point, and also within the neighboring towns of Catonsville, Linthicum and Towson.

There are a handful of hotels close to the Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI), which is only 10 miles / 16 km to the south and next to both Ferndale and Glen Burnie. Well-placed airport accommodation includes the Four Points by Sheraton on Elm Road, which is a mere 1/2 mile / 1 km away from the terminal and just off the Metropolitan Boulevard. Also nearby is the Westin Baltimore Washington Airport Hotel on Old Elkridge Landing Road, within the Gateway Community, linked by regular courtesy shuttle buses.

Where to Stay

Budget accommodation in Baltimore is particularly concentrated around Frankford Avenue, Stemmers Run Road and O'Donnell Street. Visitors looking out for cheap and reliable hotels should certainly consider staying at the Econo Lodge on Primrose Avenue, the colonial-style Days Inn on Hopkins Place - in the heart of the city, the Hampton Inn Baltimore on the Town Center Drive - within the appealing White Marsh area, and the Mount Vernon Hotel on West Franklin Street, which was established more than 100 years ago and is just a stroll away from the trendy Inner Harbor.

Mid-range hotels in Baltimore include much chain accommodation. Some of the most popular mid-range lodging options lie along South Broadway and the West University Parkway, amongst other stretches. Located within the central business and government district, the Holiday Inn Express Downtown on North Gay Street is a mere block away from the Baltimore City Hall and close to many attractions, such as the War Memorial Plaza. Within walking distance of the Baltimore Convention Center, Little Italy and the National Aquarium attraction, the Hilton Garden Inn Inner Harbor on South President Street is particularly notable and surrounded by a huge selection of Inner Harbor restaurants. On West Lombard Street and just a block away from the Camden Yards Sports Complex and Oriole Park, the centrally located Holiday Inn Inner Harbor comes very highly recommended.

Luxury hotels in Baltimore are not just about the location, but also about spacious accommodation and waterfront views. One of the most expensive hotels in Baltimore is the five-star InterContinental Harbor Court on Light Street, which is to be found within the very heart of the scenic Inner Harbor and is an important landmark building in its own right.

A little cheaper are the four-star hotels in Baltimore, the best of which include the Hyatt Regency, which also stands along Light Street, and the Marriott Waterfront Hotel on Aliceanna Street, on the very outskirts of downtown. Situated on West Pratt Street and within the Inner Harbor area is the Hilton Baltimore, which is connected to the adjacent Convention Center by a handy sky-bridge.
