Lake Louise Hotels and Accommodation

(Lake Louise, Alberta - AB, Canada)

Photo showing the entrance to the Fairmont Chateau HotelThere is a choice of accommodation around Lake Louise Village, also visitors should be in mind that hotels are notoriously pricey all year round. Even if you are prepared to pay the hotel rates, availability in the summer season is so unlikely that your will undoubtedly need to reserve you lodging first, with bookings being quite essential.

The Lake Louise International Hostel (HI) offers a very high standard of mountain chalet-style accommodation for budget travellers and a good alternative to mid-range hotels, being close to the village mall and on the Village Road. However, the popularity of the Lake Louise International Hostel means that reservations are needed literally months ahead, despite the hostel being home to no less than 150 beds.

Where to Stay

Well-placed for those wishing to explore the trails around the Bow Valley Parkway, the Castle Mountain Youth Hostel (HI) also offers excellent budget lodging, and is located just off the Castle Junction of the Highway 93. The Lake Louise Campground may also be of interest and its 200 pitches are near to the village, off Fairview Road, and is open between May and October.

Further accommodation comes in the guise of the Moraine lake Lodge on the edge of the Moraine Lake, the Paradise Lodge and Bungalows on Lake Louise Drive, and the very upscale Post Hotel on the Village Road, which combines luxury with Relais and Chateaux lodging. However, if you are looking for lodging which is even more impressive, then few hotels in the world can compare to the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, which dominates the eastern shoreline of the lake and has done so ever since the late 19th century. Alternatively, hotels and accommodation in the neighbouring townsite of Banff are within easy reach.
