Lake Louise Village is home to plenty of inexpensive dining options, such as the bustling Laggan's Mountain Bakery, which is good for cheap, hot snacks and stands next to the Samson Mall.

Also at the Lake Louise Village and very reasonably priced is Bill Peyto's Cafe, which resides within the hostel and is happy to serve anyone. In summer, this restaurants features a very pleasant outdoor dining area, where you can socialise whilst you enjoy a tasty meal.

What to Eat

Canadian cuisine in Lake Louise varies from traditional steaks and burgers, to modern fusion styles, combining local ingredients with exotic flavours. Seafood and fish dishes are especially popular, such as salmon, lobster and Atlantic cod. Wild game also features heavily on many menus at local restaurants and eateries, particularly during the chilly winter months, when hearty soups and stews are the perfect way to warm up after a day's skiing in the Canadian Rockies. International dishes are also available in the form of pasta, pizzas and Asian dining.

Where to Eat

Most people who can't afford to stay at the upscale hotel that is the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise may like to come here for a meal. The Fairview Dining Room is a particularly popular restaurant within the Chateau and overlooks the lakefront and the Victoria Glacier. Also at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is the classy Glacier Saloon, where Guinness and beef stew has become a speciality, along with fish and chips. Do consider coming to the Fairmont Chateau for a breakfast treat - the restaurant's breakfast buffet is very extensive, although far from cheap, and the views of the morning sunrise over the mountains is not one to miss out on.

Other dining alternatives include the Outpost Pub at the Post Hotel on Pipestone Road, and the Lake Louise Station Restaurant, which is to be found within the former 1909 heritage-listed railway station. Garden dining is available here during the summer, while if you fancy something a little different and quirky, you can even enjoy a meal within a fully restored railway carriage.
