Nassau Restaurants and Dining

(Nassau / Paradise Island, New Providence, Bahamas)

Aerial view of Nassau restaurants and shopsParadise Island has some of the best food in the Bahamas, along with the most expensive. It is all mega resorts here and eateries that are associated with them. There is no real budget dining anywhere on Paradise Island - for that, you will need to head across the water to Nassau.

The main collection of restaurants on Paradise Island is around the casino and the Atlantis complex proper. As well as the shopping, Marina Village is another popular eating area, as is the district around the Paradise Shopping Plaza.

What to Eat, and Where

Everything can be had on Paradise Island, from local Bahamian-style food and the best of French and Italian dining, to the tastes of Asia.

You can go from relatively well-priced buffets away from the big resorts, to the finest of dining at the One&Only Ocean Club's Dune restaurant, which comes with a hefty price tag. You can dine here as a non-resident, although be warned that even a bottle of water will set you back handsomely.

Barbecued food is best had at the Bahamian Grill, which does traditional Caribbean cuisine, while the Waterfront Bar and Grill (Hurricane Hole) at the marina has hearty food at a decent price. The Market Place is the best bet for buffets.

In Nassau, consider the restaurants located along Bank Lane, Bay Street, Charlotte Street, Frederick Street, Hill Street, Parliament Street and the Woodes Rogers Walk. For open-air beachfront bars, head to the Gambier Village area, where you can enjoy a tropical cocktail from a terrace, whilst admiring the splendid ocean views.

Dining hours in Nassau and on Paradise Island are not fixed, with hours varying depending on the season and the occupancy level of a given hotel. It is best to call ahead if you are planning on going upmarket and visiting one of the swanky restaurants here.
