Nassau Hotels and Accommodation

(Nassau / Paradise Island, New Providence, Bahamas)

There are mega luxury hotels and resorts here, such as Atlantis, where a night's lodging at the Royal Towers can be as much as several thousand dollars. You won't find any cheap, family-owned guest houses or similar accommodation in this neck of the woods.

The sprawling resort complexes of Paradise Island often come with fully-inclusive deals, where food, drink and entertainment are included. You will even get a private stretch of beach. This is not for everyone, yet you can sit back and have everything taken care of. Better deals on hotels can be had in the summer, while the accommodation in downtown Nassau is generally cheaper than similar hotels on Paradise Island and around Cable Beach.

Where to Stay

The largest resort on Paradise Island is Atlantis, which covers most of the inhabited part of the island. Atlantis presides over Cabbage Beach in the centre, and also stretches south, east and west. There is a casino here as well as excellent accommodation, shopping and dining.

The One&Only Ocean Club, farther east, is the other major resort setup on Paradise Island. It has been here for decades and boasts a stunning stretch of sand and a golf course. A part of the 2006 James Bond movie Casino Royale, starring Daniel Craig, was filmed here and this resort is generally considered to be more laid-back and less stifling than Atlantis. The Versailles Gardens and French Cloister is a popular free attraction here.

If you can't stretch to Paradise Island hotels, look to visit out of season, between April and November. Although you won't get huge discounts for accommodation, even during the hurricane season, prices may be dropped by 20 or 30 percent. Alternatively, choose to base yourself in a small guest house in Nassau, with good choices being found along Market Street, as well as around Bay Street and Charlotte Street - close to both Arawak Cay and Junkanoo Beach.
