Picture of the National Art Gallery of the Bahamas, West Hill Street, NassauWhile there is the odd gallery in among the many attractions of the island resorts, most are little more than shops selling a small array of art works. In Nassau, the National Art Gallery of the Bahamas really does stand out from the crowd and is located within the Villa Doyle on West Hill Street. This historic building dates back to the 1860s and was formerly the residence of the Chief Justice.

The recently renovated National Art Gallery of the Bahamas contains innumerable paintings and is also home to a selection of ceramics, photographs and textiles, the majority of which date from the latter part of the 20th century onwards.
