Palma Nova Tourist Attractions and Sightseeing

(Palma Nova, Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain)

Palma Nova is in the midst of one of Mallorca's most activities-intensive areas. This vibrant beach resort has plenty going on in the way of amusement parks and tourist attractions, especially when you take neighbouring Magaluf into account.

The Pirates Adventure Show is a firm favourite and has been topping to-do lists for a quarter of a century. The other major attraction in Palma Nova town proper is Golf Fantasia, which ranks amongst the very best fantasy golf courses on the island.

Beaches

Address: Palma Nova, Mallorca, Spain, ES
For most, the day in Palma Nova begins and ends on the beach. Although the Playa de Palma Nova is the most centralised stretch of sand, it's not actually the busiest beach in the resort. That honour falls on Son Maties, which is shared with the town's neighbouring resort of Magaluf. The quietest beach is the Playa des Carregador, which is never what you could call crowded. All are equipped with resort-style beach facilities and water sports offerings, including kite surfing, windsurfing and inflatable banana boats.
Open hours: daily - 08:00 to 19:00
Admission: free

This attraction is nothing short of a world-class institute and is really on par with the best aquariums anywhere, featuring some 8,000 aquatic specimens and in excess of 700 different marine species. At the centre of the complex is a garden area with sitting areas and a café.

This miniature golf course has been a favourite family attraction here for years. This course is wildly popular during the high season, so it is always wise to show up early.

Western Park

This is one of the newer family parks in the area. The Western Park is a combined wild-west theme park and water park, with a mix of staged performances and water slides on the agenda, such as the aptly named Big Hole, the Mega Slide and the Tornado. For something a little more leisurely, a lazy river is on hand, complete with inflatables. There's also a small animal petting zoo onsite.

Aqualand

Address: Carretera Cala Figuera, Magaluf, Mallorca, Spain, ES
Tel: +34 0971 131 336
Magaluf's Aqualand has rides to suit all ages, and most of them involve cooling off during the hot summer months. Racing 'kamikaze' water slides are a favourite attraction, joined by the wind-powered Tornado ride and the half-pipe rafting thrill ride. Children enjoy the Enchanted Castle, Mini Park and Espiral water slide. Aqualand has been well landscaped to provide pleasant shaded seating areas, although this will certainly prove to be an expensive day out, especially if you choose to hire the rubber rings and eat lunch here. At peak times, be prepared for some serious queues.
Open hours: May to October, daily - 10:00 to 18:00
Admission: charge, discounts for children under 12 years old, children four years old and under are free

Nemo Submarine

Address: Galeon 2, Magaluf, Mallorca, Spain, ES
Tel: +34 0971 130 244
The Nemo Submarine runs 50-minute exploratory missions out of Magaluf. This submersible vessel can dive up to 20 metres / 65 feet deep, for a clear view of the tropical fish and sharks patrolling local reefs. Staff will arrange to pick customers up from anywhere on the island, and Palma Nova is only a few miles away. The Nemo Submarine provides the ideal opportunity to get a glimpse of life beneath the water's surface, without having to actually get wet.
Open hours: December to October, Monday to Saturday - 09:00 to 20:00

Marineland

Address: Costa d'en Blanes, Portals Nous, Mallorca, Spain, ES

Nearby Marineland is a favourite stop on package tours of the island, meaning that it stays busy throughout peak summer season. Regular dolphin shows are staged here and a few children chosen at random are pulled around on an inflatable raft. Sea lion and parrot shows are also on the schedule, while further attractions include some aquariums with large sharks and sea turtles, recreations of coral reefs, a touch pool with stingrays, and some inquisitive penguins.
Open hours: April to September, daily - 09:00 to 19:00; October to March, daily - 10:00 to 18:00
