Palma Nova's Mediterranean climate spells sunny summer days that are hot and dry. The weather is best from April to September, and this is when tourists flock to Mallorca from all across Europe. July and August are particularly busy months, despite the fact that extremely high temperatures at this time may deter to some.

With that in mind, the absolute best time to visit Palma Nova is on the shoulders of the peak tourist season. April, May and September are much quieter than the peak summer months sandwiched between them, but the weather is still fine with long, sunny and dry days. Chances are that the beaches won't be as crowded and queues at the amusement parks of Magaluf won't be overwhelmingly long.

Seasonal Climate Variations / When to Go

The average temperature from March to May is between 16°C / 61°F to 20°C / 68°F. By August, the average daytime temperature hangs right around 27°C / 81°F or 28°C / 82°F, and it's hot days like this when the beach and water parks become the preferred places to congregate. Be sure to pack plenty of sunscreen regardless of when you visit, as the sun's rays on this tropical island can quickly do more damage than you would expect.

Cooler temperatures start settling in from September to October, when most of the island's annual rain falls. By December, the climate in Palma Nova has cooled considerably, to the point that swimming along the beach or braving the Magaluf water slides isn't as enticing an idea as it once was. Most amusement parks and some hotels shut down completely, while others slash their rates in hopes of luring in the odd off-season traveller. Expect all open attractions to implement limited opening hours at this time.
