Shopping in the January Sales
Shopping in Glasgow is a real highlight for any people visiting the city and there are more shops than you could every possibly need. A good selection is on the Sauchiehall Street, where there are some good department stores and the Buchanan Galleries. There are also so more shops down by the river, where it can become very busy on Saturdays. We came here in January and believe me, took full advantage on the sales, which were everywhere. We shopped 'til we dropped, and then some.

Free Museums in Glasgow
There are so many really good museums spread around the city, like the Burrell Collection and the Modern Art Gallery, and also the Kelvingrove Museum. They are all good in their own way and you really could spend days going round them, so you will probably have to choose carefully. The best bit for most people is that they are all free, which often comes as a bit of a surprise.

The Glasgow University
This is one of the world's oldest universities and dates from the middle of the 15th century, so it really does have quite a history. The main building is situated opposite the Kelvingrove Museum and can be reached via the Kelvingrove Park. This is a beautiful university and some of the rooms are open to the public, as well as its 24,000 students. You will even find Scotland's oldest museum here as well, so that's yet another thing to look out for as you explore.
