Families visiting Glasgow with young children will find a number of appealing attractions within both the city and its suburbs. Just a 25-minute drive away (via the M8, the M73 and the M74), M and D's Scotland's Theme Park is perfect for a sunny day, being open daily during the summer months and boasting attractions such as rollercoasters and fairground-style rides, Amazonia (an indoor rainforest), Cosmic Bowl, Devil's Island Adventure Golf, Diamond Lil's Snooker Lounge, Krazy Congo Soft Play, Johnny's Bingo, Pawfect Bear and Gamezone.

Roughly 45 minutes to the north of Glasgow, just past Stirling, is the Blair Drummond Safari and Leisure Park, a seasonal attraction filled with exotic animals. Visitors will enjoy checking out Lemur Land and its friendly common brown, ring-tailed and red-ruffed lemurs, followed by the Birds of Prey experience and the African exotics, such as elephants, giraffes and zebras.

Located in North Lanarkshire, on the outskirts of Glasgow, M & D's Theme Park is hugely popular with youngsters and families. With almost 50 exciting, fast rides and attractions, such as thrilling rollercoasters - including the only double corkscrew rollercoaster in Europe, a log flume ride, a large-indoor entertainment complex, a play area for younger children with ball pits, a tenpin bowling alley, a golf simulator, a bar and a restaurant, M & D's Theme Park is close to the Bellshill train station and is within easy reach of central Glasgow.

The Blair Drummond Safari and Leisure Park is one of the major tourist attractions for children visiting the area and features an impressive collection of animals from around the world. Highlights include rhinos, elephants, lions, tigers, bears, a monkey island with boat trips, sea lion shows, a children's petting zoo area with farmyard animals, pedal boats, a playground area for children, picnic tables, a restaurant and a gift shop. The Blair Drummond Safari and Leisure Park is situated in the Stirling area, on the outskirts of Glasgow, and is easy to reach by car.

Scottish Mask and Puppet Centre

The Scottish Mask and Puppet Centre, in the West End of Glasgow, is a major centre for puppet companies throughout the world. Attractions include puppet-making courses, workshops, an extensive library, a theatre and regular themed exhibitions. There are, of course, frequent puppet shows staged here and these take place between September to June, on Saturdays, at 14:00. The Scottish Mask and Puppet Centre is close to the Hillhead train station.
