(Bergen, Hordaland, Norway)

Photo of the cityscapeThere are many interesting pathways and dirt roads crossing all over the mountains close to Bergen and many of the best attractions and views outside of the city lie along these stretches, particularly around both Mount Floyen and Mount Rundemanen. Lovers of the great outdoors will find almost endless recreational attractions near to Bergen, and Mount Ulriken is particularly suitable for hikers, although a cable car ride is also available.

During the winter months, many people staying in Bergen choose to take day trips to the ski slopes in neighbouring Kvamskogen, although at the Folgefonn icefields in Odda, it is even possible to ski and snowboard in the summer season. Norway's other leading cities of Oslo and Trondheim are really too far to be called nearby, although since some of their attractions are quite unmissable, try to make time to visit these cities either on another occasion, or if you are planning a tour of Norway.
