With a relatively mild winter climate and seemingly endless sunshine in the summer, San Gimignano is at its hottest during July and August, when temperatures regularly top 31°C / 88°F.

However, despite these high temperatures, the climate of San Gimignano somehow does not feel unbearable or even uncomfortable, just perfect, with the likelihood of rainfall at this time of the year being extremely low. July is generally a little drier than August, although precipitation levels are minimal and rarely more than two or three inches.

However, come September, the chance of a spell of rainy weather in San Gimignano greatly increases and this warm month sees upwards of 10 inches / 254 mm some years, being interspersed with plenty of contrasting sunshine. From October to December, the climate starts to cool down and showers can be expected at any time. Being a quieter month with temperatures still well above 20°C / 68°F, many people choose to visit San Gimignano during October and find that most rain is relatively short lived and rarely spoils a holiday week.

Even during its coldest winter weather in December and January, daytime temperatures remain above 10°C / 50°F. The rapidly improving springtime climate sees tourism levels in San Gimignano starting to increase, with longer spells of sunshine and very little rain.
