San Gimignano Shopping and Districts

(San Gimignano, Tuscany, Italy)

Central town viewAlthough most visitors don't exactly come to San Gimignano for its shopping, there are quite a reasonable selection of local shops to sidetrack you whilst you sightsee around the town and the Piazza del Duomo. Every corner of San Gimignano is full of surprises and you can never be quite sure what you are going to encounter next, particularly around the Palazzo del Podestá and along the Via San Matteo.

Many people shopping for a souvenirs of their time spent in San Gimignano will find a number of stores selling locally produced Tuscan wines, and you will often be able to enjoy free wine tastings whilst you decide what to buy. However, wine here is rarely a bargain and so you will need to be careful not to taste too much and get carried away!

The Piazza della Cisterna also features more than its fair share of shops.
