Located in the Travemunde harbour and around 100 years old, the Passat is a glorious and significant sailing ship and was once used for training purposes by the merchant navy. Easy to recognise, the Passat features four huge masts and there are many fascinating attractions beneath its deck, just waiting to be explored.

When you first arrive in Lubeck, consider taking a tour of the main parts of the city on one of the popular open-top double decker buses. A good alternative to guided bus tours around central Lubeck are the many river cruises. Sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery as you pass the numerous waterfront attractions and historic buildings lining the Trave River, the canal and also the city's harbour. Various different roundtrips are on offer and generally last around one hour, with a selection of refreshments available on board. Cruises are available to Travemunde, Gothmund, the docks, and also the nature reserves along the banks of the River Wakenitz, where local wildlife flourishes.

Throughout the year, this popular entertainment venue hosts a range of concerts, ballets, theatrical events, operas and many other performances and attractions. A modern concert hall dating back to the latter part of the 20th century, the Lubeck Musik und Kongresshalle is regularly filled with audiences of almost 2,000 people, who arrive to enjoy concerts, mainstream musicals, and many other shows. Most tickets can be easily obtained and whilst shows can be fully booked, cancellations are often available on the night and worth a try. Other attractions at Lubeck's Music and Congress Hall include various art exhibitions, conferences, comedy events and seminars. Look out for the ceramic figurines, which stand proudly on the roof.

City Theatre (Stadttheater)

Dating back to the beginning of the 20th century and known for its stylish Art Nouveau facade, the city theatre is known locally in the city as the Stadttheater. With three separate stages and many regular shows, which include both musicals and operas, the Lubeck Stadttheater boasts a particularly impressive interior, which is highly decorated and full of period features.

Freilichtbühne Wallanlagen Theatre

During the summer months, this outdoor theatre is set within landscaped grounds and surrounded by maturing trees. This unusual theatre hosts many popular events each year, which range from small rock concerts to classical chamber music, children's musicals to class Shakespeare plays, comedy performances to film screenings. This attraction offers a pleasant way to spend a balmy evening - bring a picnic for before the show starts.
