Worcester Hotels and Accommodation

(Worcester, Worcestershire, England, UK)

View of the River SevernBy week, the city of Worcester is frequented by large numbers of visitors from the corporate sector, meaning that between Monday and Friday, hotels with available accommodation can be a little hard to come by. Consequently, weekend lodging rates are geared towards families and tourists, often being cheaper than those offered to mid-week business visitors.

There are a selection of inexpensive B&Bs (bed and breakfasts) and similar guest houses located in Worcester, with the majority of these lying on the northerly side of the city and being somewhat basic. Most prefer to look for accommodation in Worcester city centre, although a variety of additional lodging is available in surrounding villages and towns, such as Abberley, Bayton, Bewdley, Birtsmorton, Broadway, Bromsgrove, Eckington, Kidderminster, Malvern, Redditch, Shuthonger and Staunton.

Where to Stay

Those who prefer self-catering lodging to city hotels will find that Worcester is close to a variety of different options in this category. Ranging from holiday cottages and garden apartments, to terraced houses and converted barns, self-catering accommodation is to be found in its greatest numbers in nearby:

To the east and within the actual city centre, the Burgage House at College Precincts stands on a characterful cobblestone street, and has rooms with cathedral views (to the front).

On Chestnut Walk, Osborne House is an excellent B&B and one of the city's best, while on nearby Friar Street, Ye Olde Talbot Hotel stands across from the City Walls Road, where the Fownes Hotel is based and just a short walk away, being full of character and occupying an intriguing converted glove factory. Overlooking the River Severn, Diglis House on Severn Street is also very much of note and has become a popular venue for riverside wedding receptions in Worcester.

In the northerly Fernhill Heath area, the Croft on Station Road and Dilmore House on Droitwich Road await patronage, both of which offer four-star accommodation in pleasant surroundings.

For summer camping in the Worcester area, consider the Boyce Caravan Park at Stanford Bishop, the Ranch Caravan Park at Honeybourne, or the Lickhill Manor Park at Stourport on Severn.
