Odense hotels are always at their busiest during the summer months, when availability goes down and prices rise accordingly, to match demand.

However, outside of this time, the Danish city of Odense enjoys a much quieter period and during the winter months, it is not unusual for hotels to reduced their rates quite dramatically, if their rooms need to be filled.

Where to Stay

Backpackers and travellers looking for budget accommodation in Odense really only have a few options to choose from, other than the cheaper hotels. These include the Odense Camping Site, which lies around 3 km / 2 miles from the actual city centre, off the Odensevej and close to Den Fynske Landsby. The Danhostel is another good lodging option and can be found on the Kragsbjergvej, in a rather exclusive neighbourhood, some 2 km / 1 mile to the south east of the city centre.

For hotels in Odense, look around the Dronninggensgade, the Hans Tausensgade and the Ostre Stationsvej, which is close to the train station. The Hans Mules Gade also features a number of good accommodation choices, such as the City Hotel Odense, which features more than 40 guest rooms are is extremely well-placed for museum-goers. Other popular options include the historic First Hotel Grand Odense on the Jernbanegade, next to the Kongens Have, and also the Radisson SAS HC Andersen Hotel on the Claus Bers Gade, which features a contemporary style interior and a good casino for late-night gamblers.
