Den Gamle, that's the Old Town to you and me
Den Gamle By is the Old Town and an open-air museum. Many historic Danish farmhouses and other buildings have been relocated here to create a small, charming village in its own right. It really is like jumping in the Tardis and going back a hundred years or so. There is a small river winding its way through the centre and even some geese wandering freely around. Also the hustle and bustle of Aarhus city centre is just minutes away, this car-free haven feels like you are in the Danish countryside, away from everything and in your own little world. You've probably guessed that I really like it - a lot.

Aboulevarden
This charming canal finished up at Aarhus harbour. We spent a few hours walking along the banks and sitting down part way on a bench. Lots of events take place around the canal in the summer.

Shopping in Aarhus, around the Den Gamle By
A lot of people get quite the wrong impression when the Den Gamle By is described as an 'open-air museum'. Yes, it is a very historic place, but there are some great shops here, with lovely traditional goods for sale. You can even watch things being made before you buy them.
