Although there are a number of different art galleries in the city, it is the Larnaca Municipal Art Gallery that it undoubtedly the star attraction in this category.

Hosting a series of exhibitions and featuring the works of both Cypriot and international artists, the Larnaca Municipal Art Gallery is located in the Old Customs House, along with the Pierides Municipal Museum of Paleontology (Tornaritis).

Together, these two cultural attractions come together to make up part of the Larnaca Municipal Cultural Centre and contribute in a big way to the city's cultural endowment.


Art lovers will also enjoy wandering around the Larnaca market each Sunday, where various regional artists come to sell their paintings, including keen students from the city's esteemed Cyprus College of Art. Alternatively, if you wish to purchase an original painting, traditional print or modern Cypriot art work, then there are a selection of commercial art galleries, workshops, exhibitions and gift shops scattered around both central Larnaca and in nearby towns and villages, such as the westerly village of Agglisides.

The Larnaca Municipal Art Gallery stands on Europe Square and is the number one place in the city for those wishing to see some exceptional Cypriot art. However, the gallery also participates is a successful exchange programme with several international European galleries, including those in both Athens (Greece) and Dublin (Ireland). Most temporary exhibitions here last just two or three weeks, meaning that there is often something different to see between visits.
