Re. Far from the madding crowd!
Mr Bernstein, I know exactly how you feel/felt. Can't remember the exact name but there is another place similar to that around 20 minutes drive from Nissi Beach. I know that's not much help but ask a taxi driver either to find it or to suggest somewhere else you can get some 'me' time.

Far from the madding crowd!
What a breath of fresh air it was for me to get away from loud dance music and rowdy Brits for a minute at Ayia Napa Monastery. Quiet, peaceful, and quaint - which is just what I needed. Gives you the chance to learn what happened here long before the party animals turned up too!

Re. Europe's best beach
I concede that Nissi Beach definitely made Ayia Napa but would recommend time spent at Harbour Beach or Thekla Beach. So much cheaper and a lot less crowded. Loads of accommodation nearby too if that is a concern.

Europe's best beach
My friends that had visited before told me that Nissi Beach was where I needed to be and how right they were! Luckily I only had to walk a couple of minutes from my room to get to it and there was so much more than just drinking and lazing about on the beach. The only thing I could complain about would be the prices. They were sometimes astronomical!

Diving at resorts or beaches
I've been diving in the likes of Indonesia and Thailand but must say that the diving in Ayia Napa is worth its salt and can only get better as time goes on. You have the choice of doing it at a resort or on the beach and there are plenty of companies for you to pick from with discounts during the low season.
