There are usually plenty of things to do in Ayia Napa if you wish to experience the local culture in this region of Cyprus, with an assortment of folklore events regularly being staged at the Town Hall.

A real annual highlight is the Ayia Napa International Festival, which is staged each September and really does bring the whole community alive, with traditional Cypriot music and folk dancing, all manner of concerts and an abundance of art exhibitions and similar events. First held in 1984, the Ayia Napa International Festival takes place in the monastery's Seferis Square (Plateia Seferi), close to the heart of the resort, with performances throughout this busy month attracting visitors from all across Cyprus.


Ayia Napa Calendar of Festivals and Events 2014 / 2015: General Information

At the beginning on the year, February sees the resort play host to some very enjoyable carnival celebrations, leading up to Greek Independence Day on March 25th. Soon after, Ayia Napa enjoys a host of religious festivities during the Easter period, followed by the Spring Festival on May 1st (Labour Day), Kataklysmos (Deluge) in June and the Feast of Assumption on August 15th.
