Linz Weather, When to Go and Climate Information

(Linz, Upper Austria, Austria)

The climate of Linz is described as temperate, with each season being quite individual and easy to recognise. Linz is a particularly appealing city, with milder winters than many other locations around Austria, and warm summers.

Visitors arrive in Linz in their greatest numbers from May onwards, when the sunshine hours are rising, the days lengthening and the temperatures quickly rising. Daytime temperatures in May average 20°C / 68°F, although the evenings can feel decidedly cooler.

Seasonal Climate Variations / When to Go

By the time that July and August have arrived, the summer climate is well and truly here. By day, the plentiful sunny weather sees temperatures averaging 25°C / 77°F and often rising to around 27°C / 81°F or even 28°C / 82°F. Even by night, temperatures stay around 13°C / 55°F, making the evenings feel quite balmy and inviting. Although the wettest months are actually June, July and August, much of the rain falls overnight and rarely spoils a summer holiday week.

The winter climate in Linz is fairly mild, although strong winds can make the days feel considerably colder. Night-time frosts quickly begin to die out during the month of March and sunshine levels soon increase.
