Linz Hotels and Accommodation

(Linz, Upper Austria, Austria)

Picture of Linz city centreThe hotels in Linz are never far from the attractions and restaurants, although reasonable priced lodging can be a little scarce.

Much of the accommodation in Linz lines the banks either side of the River Danube, being along or near to prominent thoroughfares such as the Eferdinger Bundesstrasse, Obere Donaulande, Rudolfstrasse, and the Untere Donaulande, where the Arcotel Hotel Nike resides, adjoining the Bruckner Haus Conference centre.

Those looking for the very cheapest in accommodation have a few options to consider in Linz. The Pichlinger See camping site on the Wiener Bundesstrasse lies around 10 km / 6 miles to the south-east of the city centre and enjoys a particularly tranquil lakeside setting, being popular with owners of caravans.

Where to Stay

For the very cheapest in accommodation, Linz is home to several youth hostels, such as the Jugendherberge on the Kapuzinerstrasse. Close to the tranquil Volksgarten (Folk Garden), the castle, the theatre and the Linz Ars Electronica Centre, a number of hotels are to be found along the Gesellenhausstrasse, Langgasse and Wurmstrasse, to the south of the river.

Also in this area is the Hotel Schillerpark on the Rainerstrasse, and the Courtyard by Marriott Linz, which is situated a little to the east and on the Europaplatz. Head across the Danube and to the Hauptstrasse and you will find a good choice of centrally located accommodation, a stroll away from the main square.

The four-star Landgraf Hotel and Loft is one such hotel on the Hauptstrasse and well known in this part of Linz for its grand, Art Nouveau exterior. Nearby and at the far end of the Hauptstrasse is the Linz Wolfinger, a central hotel filled with character and constructed around a former cloister.
