Linz Events and Festivals 2014 / 2015
(Linz, Austria)
Several exceptional festivals stand out from the crowd in the Linz calendar of events, with the summer time always affording plenty of things to do. Many outdoor events take place around the city, with open-air concerts staged at prominent venues within Danube Park, particularly during the Whitsun celebrations, when the Linz Festival is held.
Each July in Linz is an exciting time, with the city filled with more than 500 street entertainers participating at the Pflasterspektakel Festival, ranging from clowns and acrobats, to magicians, dancers and comedians. The Linz cultural summer boasts daily cabaret and outdoor concerts, particularly around the harbour and at the Brucknerhaus, on the Untere Donaulände.
Linz Events and Festivals
Early September in Linz sees the ever-popular Ars Electronica Festival, which offers the chance to enjoy a mixture of cyber art and modern, computerised music and some rather striking technology based art works. This unusual event is followed soon after by the acclaimed Brucknerfest, which is known locally as the Bruckner Festival and celebrates the life of famous Austrian composer Anton Bruckner (1824 to 1896), with an entire month devoted to classical music.
