El Alamein Shopping and Districts

There is not really a great selection of shops in El Alamein and you may struggle to find a decent souvenir of your visit here. You will find a huge range of shops, modern shopping centres and markets in the city of Alexandria, which can be reached in just a few hours by car.

When to Shop and Opening Hours

Shops in Egypt are usually closed all day Friday, and some also choose to close their doors on Sundays. During the hot summer months, most are open between 09:00 to 13:00, closing for the afternoon and then reopening again from 17:00 until as late as 22:00.


Outside of the summer season, typical Egyptian shopping hours are from 10:00 to 18:00, although during the Ramadan fast, most choose to close early and open again in the evening.
