Trenton Tourist Attractions and Sightseeing

(Trenton, New Jersey - NJ, USA)

Tourists who are planning themselves an itinerary of sightseeing in Trenton will find a number of sports attractions and evening entertainment options.

Just down the road from the New Jersey State House, the Patriots Theater at the War Memorial sits on the corner of Barrack Street and Memorial Drive. With regular shows and concerts, this after-dinner attraction boasts a huge pipe organ (with some 1,200 pipes) and is operated by the New Jersey Department of State.

Also of note to tourists in Trenton and formerly named the Sovereign Bank Arena, the centrally located Sun National Bank Center is a major multi-purpose arena used to host a variety of events all through the year. This sizeable venue was opened at the end of 1999, being built at the cost of more than US$50 million. For a touch of nature, take a stroll along the banks of the Delaware River, where on a fine day you will likely spot local anglers enjoying a spot of fishing.

Delaware River

Address: Trenton, New Jersey (NJ), USA
The Delaware River has always been an integral part of the city and its presence is the main reason that this spot was settled back in the late 18th century, since it provided good transport connections and endless opportunities for fishing. Today, the river is bounded by a series of green spaces, such as the Arm and Hammer Park and its Trenton Thunder baseball stadium. Various walking trails run along the riverside, while there are also several bridges connecting both banks. These include the historic Calhoun Street Toll Supported Bridge (Trenton City Bridge), which was built in 1884 and links East Trenton Avenue in neighboring Morrisville, Pennsylvania, stretching for just over 388 meters / 1,273 feet in total.
