Atlantic City Hotels and Accommodation

(Atlantic City, New Jersey - NJ, USA)

A lively city filled with entertainment options and plenty of casinos to go around, Atlantic City is blessed with a wealth of accommodation to suit all needs. Hotels in Atlantic City are known to fluctuate in price wildly throughout the year, with winter lodging rates being just a fraction of their summer equivalents, when the city is at its busiest and the beach hotels filled to capacity.

Atlantic City accommodation is also in particular demand when major events and conventions are staged, and this is particularly so each February, when the International Power Boat Show arrives in town and hotels surrounding the Convention Center soon get booked up. Also of note is the Atlantic City Beer Festival (Celebration of the Suds) each March, and the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) Annual Exhibition in November, which reliably draws almost 50,000 convention-goers and has a great impact on the surrounding lodging scene.

Where to Stay

Budget accommodation is not usually hard to come by, particularly if you are prepared to base yourself outside of the city environs and commute to the attractions. Cheap hotels are to be found close by in the neighboring towns and cities of Absecon, Brigantine, the Egg Harbor Township and Pleasantville, as well as the suburb known as West Atlantic City.

Inexpensive hotels are also based along the Pacific Avenue, where highlights include the Econo Lodge Beach Block, which is located next to the Tropicana Casino and the Hard Rock Cafe. Just a couple of blocks away from the famous Atlantic City Boardwalk and many enticing casinos is the Flamingo Motel, while the Rodeway Inn stands part-way between O'Donnell Park and the Boardwalk itself.

Rather affordable and on South North Carolina Avenue, the Wyndham Skyline Tower offers extremely competitive three-star accommodation and is a mere block from the Boardwalk, coming with desirable rooms overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Somewhat more expensive in Atlantic City is the Harrah's Showboat, where reasonable lodging is combined with live entertainment (at the onsite House of Blues) and gambling (within the themed poker room). Other good three-star options include both the Trump Marina Hotel on Huron Avenue and the Sheraton Hotel on Two Miss America Way. Sitting right on the Boardwalk, the simply vast and highly recommended Tropicana Casino and Resort boasts some 20 different restaurants, around 30 shops, its very own Comedy Club and IMAX Theater, and a staggering 2,100 guest rooms.

When compared to other major US cities, the luxury accommodation in Atlantic City is really quite reasonably priced. Ranking as a plush five-star hotel, the Borgata Casino and Spa on Borgata Way combines Italian style with contemporary sophistication, and towers for some 43 storeys. On Pacific Avenue, Caesars Atlantic City is a sumptuous four-star hotel and has been known to play host to the annual World Series of Poker. Rising high above the Atlantic coastline, the Chairman Tower at Trump Taj Mahal on Boardwalk Drive is another huge complex, where elegant rooms come with floor-to-ceiling windows.
