Bar Harbor Shopping and Districts
(Bar Harbor, Mount Desert Island, Maine - ME, USA)
Within the center of Bar Harbor you will soon encounter a charming and popular shopping district, brimming with a mixture of small art galleries and trendy fashion boutiques, which are spread along the main, central roads.
Further shopping opportunities in central Bar Harbor are located along a number of the interconnecting side streets and these stores may be smaller, but are well worth exploring, since they contain some excellent souvenirs relating to the Acadia National Park, and souvenirs including art works, jewelry, an endless choice of humorous T-shirts, and even US license plates.
And if you didn't realise how chilly the nights can be in Bar Harbor, then there are plenty of shops selling jackets, pullovers and all kinds of clothing, such as the Timberland Store on Main Street.
Where to Shop
Many of the best shopping outlets tend to be clustered along Cottage Street, High Street, West Street and on the Acadia Byway / Main Street (Route 3).
During the busy summer season, the majority of the shops in Bar Harbor remain open seven days a week, until later every night bar Sunday.
Always worth exploring is the Village Emporium and the nearby Eden Rising, both of which are located on Cottage Street, and also the Bar Harbor Hemporium, an environmentally friendly shop specialising in good made from hemp, such as bags, backpacks and hats.
