Those looking to pick up a quality piece of art work won't have far to look in Big Harbor, with a good selection of galleries to be found close to each other, along Main Street. A number of these galleries specialize in local scenes and landscapes from around Bar Harbor and beyond, such as the beautiful photographs at the Katahdin Photo Gallery, which imaginatively capture the changing seasonal of the Acadia National Park.

Also located on Main Street is the gallery known as Island Artisans, where pieces created by more than 100 artists from throughout Maine are exhibited, ranging from paintings and ceramics, to jewelry, gift cards, hand-printed textiles and weaving. Standing on West Street and another Bar Harbor gallery of note is the very established Alone Moose Fine Crafts, where you will find paintings and bronze sculptures of native wildlife, along with some rather splendid waterfront views. Worth noting, a number of the town's galleries do close during the winter months and do not reopen again until April or May.
