Louisville and the Waterfalls
The falls are quite easy to find and well sign posted from the road. They are really dramatic and cascade down into the Ohio River. The dam is quite an impressive structure in its own right and has its own Visitor Center. Nearby, the McAlpin Locks are also quite interesting. A bit of history themselves.

Derby Week in Louisville
Derby Week is much more than just a horse race and this lasts an entire week in May. Everyone from the city seemed to be here, almost anyway. There are some nice parades, big fireworks and in the evening, Fourth Street Live, where all the eateries and bars seem to move outside for the night. Great atmosphere all day long, all week long.

Visit the Louisville Zoo, or maybe not
I would only say to visit the zoo if you are really short of things to do. Don't get me wrong, it was ok, but really nothing special. Some of the enclosures looked a bit small to me, although others were quite nice. We didn't actually get to see that many animals, because some were closed up. There was a nice picnic area though and we chilled out there for ages. It was pretty quiet though, so we didn't have to fight our way through crowds. The elephants were good as well.
