Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts

Standing just a short distance from the Muhammad Ali Center and the Science Center, the Gallery at the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts hosts numerous frequently changing exhibitions. Displays attract many people, who come to the center to watch the regular dramatic and theatrical performances showcased here, while the Gallery is also popular on the First Friday Gallery Hop, as it is host to the opening reception of the evening.

Kentucky Museum of Art Craft

Hosting frequently changing exhibitions as well as a permanent collection of art works that will please any art lover, the Museum of Art Craft showcases some of best examples of the rich art heritage in Kentucky. Founded in 1981, the museum aims to preserve Kentucky's art heritage through the education and support of the community and the Education Center located on-site offers many interesting programs. The gallery shop is a good place to pick up souvenirs.

Louisville Visual Art Association

Promoting visual arts within the Louisville community, this museum aims to encourage and advance visual arts and educate the community so that they foster an appreciation for the arts. This is a non-collecting museum. If you have time on your hands after your visit, you may like to take a stroll around the adjacent Turners Park, River Road Country Club or Thurman Hutchins Park.

Speed Art Museum

Founded in 1927 and situated within the campus of the university, next to Emst Hall, this is the city's premier art museum, where visitors can enjoy art works showcased in a large and spacious building. Collections at the Speed Art Museum include both permanent and visiting works, with sculptures and pieces by Rembrandt, Monet, Rodin and Henry Moore.

Due to the US$60 million-plus extension project on the Speed Art Museum, a satellite exhibition space called 'Local Speed' opened in Louisville in June 2013, with a temporary, rotating programme of exhibits.

TriArt Gallery

Situated close to the Kentucky International Convention Center and the City Hall, the relatively young TriArt Gallery has only been in operation since 1997 and focuses on ensuring visitors enjoy a memorable visual art experience. With exhibitions rotating 12 times a year, there is always something new to see at the TriArt, while touring exhibitions are also frequently displayed. There is also a series of popular educational programs hosted here.
