Volcano Art Centre Gallery

Actually sited in the Volcano House Hotel, within the Big Island's acclaimed Volcanoes National Park, the Volcano Art Centre Gallery is regularly frequented by passing tourists. Many home furnishings and wooden ornaments are on offer here, often made locally, together with modern wall art, eye-catching sculptures and some very usable pieces, which combine style with functionality. Those visiting the Volcanoes National Park will find that this store has become one of the park's countless attractions.

Always a favourite with visitors looking to take home a memory of their time in Hawaii, the Gallery of Great Things offers an array of pieces from many of the islands, as well as art works from Indonesia, Polynesia and beyond. Particularly popular art the tribal art works, the Hawaiian quilts and the wooden furnishings.

Wailoa Centre

The Wailoa Centre lies within central Hilo, where it has become an important past of the island's burgeoning art scene, showcase the works of a number of up-and-coming Hawaiian artists. However, the Wailoa Centre is also home some rather special oriental silk paintings and wooden carvings. Also of interest are the tsunami exhibits and the ever-changing exhibitions. The annual Spring Art Festival takes place here, where it is amongst the biggest art-related fair taking place in the whole of Hawaii.

Genesis Gallery

Standing on the island's Kohala Coast, the Genesis Gallery is to be found on the Waikoloa Beach Drive and within the lively resort of Waikoloa. Due to its good location, the gallery is always popular with holiday makers looking for gift ideas, with its colourful glassworks being firm favourites. A number of featured Hawaiian artists regularly exhibits here and are generally very well received.

Holualoa Gallery

Another good place to pick up an affordable piece of Hawaiian art, the Holualoa Gallery has become known for its colourful pieces, which are often created by its artist owners. On display here are large paintings, sculptures, glassworks and pottery, which are often themed and of interest to tourists.

Pacific Fine Art Gallery

Situated within the North Kona area of Hawaii's Big Island, the Pacific Fine Art Gallery is easy to find and resides alongside the ever-popular Kona Inn Shopping Village. Artists exhibited here are both Hawaiian and international, with paintings varying greatly in price and the prints tending to offer the best value. There are some particularly nice sculptures and watercolours.

Silk Road Gallery

The Silk Road Gallery is located within Kamuela and is easy to find, lying along the Highway 19. Although the Big Island is by no means shore of art galleries, the Silk Road store does offer something a little difference, many of its boldest art works have a distinctive Asian theme. There are also some nice antique ceramics here and plenty of souvenirs ideas, such as textiles, gift cards and locally made baskets.

Ululani Gallery

The Ululani Gallery can be found in the village of Holualoa, on the western side of the island, close to Captain Cook and within the Kailua-Kona. This is a good place to come if you are looking for art works created by local Hawaiian artists, who tend to be based on the main islands. Expect to find oil and watercolour canvasses, raku pieces, silver jewellery and sculptures in all sizes.
