The city of Pensacola in Florida is easily accessible by all forms of transport including air, rail, bus and car. Pensacola Regional Airport is only a small travel and transport hub which does not offer international air links. However, Pensacola itself is located within easy reach of other larger air terminals such as Orlando, New Orleans and Dallas, which all provide a large selection of trans-Atlantic flights and European connections.

There are two airports servicing the Pensacola area, including Ferguson Airport in West Pensacola and the Pensacola Regional Airport, both being small air transport hubs. Pensacola Regional Airport is about 3 miles / 5 km from the downtown district and offers flights which travel to major US cities including Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, Atlanta and Orlando. Those coming from international destinations will need to fly into one of the bigger air hubs and catch a connecting flight. Airlines operating from Pensacola Regional Airport include Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines and US Airways, among others. Downtown Pensacola can be accessed easily from the airport via hire car, limousine and shuttle services, while taxis also operate from outside the terminal. Car Rental

Most Pensacola residents choose to travel around by car and hiring a car can give you the flexibility and convenience to travel with ease. Both I-10 and highway 90 run near the area connecting Pensacola with other Florida and major US cities. All major car rental outlets are represented at Pensacola Regional Airport, including Avis, Budget, Hertz and Almo, while there are also offices located in the city among other local rental companies.

Buses and Coaches

Local bus services are run by the Escambia County Area Transit System, but are limited in the areas they serve, with no routes accessing the beach. For longer distance journeys, Greyhound Lines operate services which travel to and from Pensacola to major cities across the US.

Trains

There is an Amtrak train station at Pensacola with good facilities including baggage assistance, waiting rooms, restrooms and payphones. Regular connections operate between Pensacola and Orlando, from where there are rail links which travel to other major US cities.

Trams

One of the most convenient ways to travel around the city of Pensacola is on the Five Flags Trolley service, operated by the Escambia County Area Transit System.
