Situated just outside of Jacksonville in adjacent St. Augustine, Castillo de San Marcos was built between 1672 and 1695 and is America's oldest masonry fort, as well as being the country's best preserved example of a Spanish colonial stronghold.

Walter Jones Historical Park

Visitors to the Walter Jones Historical Park will find a riverfront site covering 10 acres / 4 hectares on which there is an 1876 farm complex, picnic areas, the Mandarin Museum and Historical Society, and the remnants of agricultural times from days gone by.

The Fort Matanzas National Monument is a Spanish-built masonry watchtower which was erected between 1740 and 1742 as a means of protecting the city from attacks.

Friendship Fountain

The city's striking Friendship Fountain is located at the western end of Jacksonville's Southbank Riverwalk. Built in 1965, the fountain is one of the world's largest fountains, with jets of water towering up to 100 feet / 30 meters. The Friendship Fountain stands next to the city's Museum of Science and History.
