Jacksonville Hotels and Accommodation

(Jacksonville, Florida - FL, USA)

The accommodation scene in Jacksonville is quite unusual in that it is not greatly affected by seasonality and demand, with hotels generally charging roughly the same lodging rates throughout the year. However, the beachfront hotels in Jacksonville are the exception to this and tend to slightly inflate their prices during the summer months, at the weekend and when sizable events are being staged in the city.

The easterly district known as Jacksonville Beach is where many of the most appealing hotels reside, boasting family friendly accommodation with uninterrupted balcony views of the Atlantic Ocean. Close by at Atlantic Beach, the Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park offers shady camping just a matter of meters from the actual oceanfront.

There are number of hotels situated near to the Jacksonville International Airport (JAX), which is approximately 15 miles / 24 km to the north and connected to the city center by the Interstate I-95. Especially close and highly recommended is the Hampton Suites on the Airport Court, while the Clarion Hotel Airport Conference Center on the Dixie Clipper Drive is actually situated within the grounds and just minutes from the terminal.

Where to Stay

Budget hotels are in good numbers along Cagle Road, Lenoir Avenue, Salisbury Road and the Southside Boulevard, where the Hampton Inn and Suites really does come highly recommended and stands within the Deerwood Park area. Cheap accommodation also comes in the form of the excellent Candlewood Suites on Belfort Road, which stands close to the Interstate I-95.

Located some 5 miles / 8 km from the Jacksonville Beach and on Bonneval Road is a group of basic two-star hotels, such as the Courtyard, Extended Stay, Fairfield Inn by Marriott, Jameson Inn, Microtel Inn, La Quinta Inn, Red Roof Inn and Wingate by Wyndham.

One of the largest and most prominent hotels in the city is the towering four-star Omni Hotel on Water Street, where luxury accommodation is sited alongside the banks of the St. John's River, next to the popular Riverwalk trail and near to both the Times Union Center for Performing Arts and the Jacksonville Landing. Very close by is another notable four-star hotel - the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront on the East Coastline Drive, close to the Main Street South. The Hyatt is well-placed if you are heading into nearby Midtown and to the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, which is just minutes away and regularly hosts major football matches and concerts for up to 75,000 spectators.

A little cheaper and within the three-star lodging category is a cluster of hotels close to the J Turner Butler Boulevard and the Mayo Clinic Hospital, being just a short drive from Jacksonville Beach itself. These popular accommodation options include the Courtyard by Marriott on San Pablo Road, the Hampton Inn and Suites on the Beach Boulevard, and the Residence Inn by Marriott on the Mary Brigh Drive.
