Seasonal Climate Variations / When to Go
During the summer months, Peruvians and tourists' alike head to the beaches around Trujillo, which are at their very best at this time of the year, since the country's infamous coastal 'garua' mist lifts and sunny weather is at its most plentiful.
The garua mist is the direct result of the cool Humboldt current, which arrives from the South Pacific and causes any moisture to condense. Trujillo's summer climate is greatly influenced by the arrival of a warmer central Pacific current, which eliminates the mist and forces back the Humboldt current, making sunbathing on the beaches and swimming in the warm waters all the more inviting. Outside of the summer, warm temperatures make sightseeing an enjoyable experience.
