Re. Simply beautiful murals
Not sure when you visited? Because there's now a museum open with plenty of signage and displays in both Spanish and English. No need for a guide then!

Simply beautiful murals
Great times were had at the Huaca del Sol y la Luna ancient ruins. Be prepared to travel though as it is quite some way from Trujillo town centre. Also get a tour guide from the tourist office because it will be quite confusing other wise and you might miss out on some things.

Re. Worth the long drive
You will be pleasing to learn that shops are open again. That was just temporary stuff for renovation. Please come back El Brujo, Trujillo, and Peru.

Worth the long drive
I decided that a taxi to and from El Brujo was a worthy investment and how right I was. Loved the body of the Senora de Cao and it was in such good condition considering its age. Shame all the shops were shut, would have loved some memorabilia.

My favourite Peruvian UNESCO haunt
They all rave about El Brujo and the other one, Huaca del Sol y la Luna, but Chan Chan is my personal favourite and is vastly underrated. A key insight into the Chimu Kingdom and its civilisation. You should also note that this is a mere two miles or less from the centre of the town, which makes it more attractive than the other two which are at least an hour away.
