The accommodation and lodging on offer in Callao is fairly sparse and most visitors choose to stay close by in the neighbouring capital of Lima. Hotels are extremely plentiful in Lima and many are little more than 10 km / 6 miles away from Callao, being easy to reach by bus or taxi.

The Jorge Chávez International Airport is located within Callao and a small selection of accommodation is conveniently close by, such as the Manhattan Inn Airport Hotel on the Jorin Luna Pizarro. This hotel provides a free minibus to pick you up from the airport itself, although do bear in mind that it is known for its noisy neighbourhood. Many prefer the Ramada Costa Del Sol Lima Airport, which is just across the road from the actual terminal.

Where to Stay

Those who choose to base themselves in Lima will find that hotels are amongst the most expensive in the whole of Peru. However, cheap accommodation is available in the centre of Lima, particularly during the low season, between December and March. Those looking for budget lodging in Lima, near to Callao, will find that the colonial-style Hostal Belen on the Jiron Belen is a reliable choice, as is the Hostal de las Artes on the Chota.

Holiday makers visiting Callao with more of a budget should consider Lima's Hotel Continental on the Puno, and the Kamana on the Camana. For a touch of luxury, top-end accommodation in Lima, periodic discounts make these hotels surprisingly affordable, with the Sheraton on the Paseo de la Republica being amongst the best.
