There are plenty of places to shop in Belo Horizonte, ranging from shopping malls and busy streets, to colourful markets packed with traders and goodies. In general, the most appealing shopping streets in Belo Horizonte tend to be very much concentrated around the Praca Savassi, where you will be able to find plenty of quality souvenirs to take back home with you.

Locals in Belo Horizonte are often to be seen at the high-rise shopping centres within the downtown district, as well as the bustling street markets. Each Sunday, the street fair named the Feira de Arte e Artesanato / Hippie Fair is worth looking out for and draws huge crowds frequently exceeding 100,000 people. The fair is based on the Avenida Afonso Pena, next to the Parque Municipal, and although the official hours are 06:00 to midday, traders often continue to sell their wares well into the afternoon.
