Port Lucaya photo of marinaBeaches that astound, amazing national parks and bathtub water seas ideal for exploring the underwater world are just some of the tourist attractions that make Grand Bahama a great all-around island getaway. But just to keep things balanced, Freeport and Lucaya boast some of the most vibrant shopping, and wining and dining in the entire Bahamas. There's a bewildering array of urban and natural attractions on this island that keep the tourists coming back year after year.

With over 97 km / 60 miles of glorious sand, you can be sure of finding a few beaches on Grand Bahama that will make you more than happy. If that's not enough, the barrier reef that surrounds the island ensures the water is clear, calm and warm. Away from the beaches, further Freeport attractions come in the form of the Rand Nature Centre and the Garden of the Groves, both of which are especially family friendly.

Divers will want to check out famous dive sites like the Caves, the Wall, the East End Paradise coral gardens, Treasure Reef and Theo's Wreck - a huge sunken freighter. There are dozens of world-class dive sites and the Underwater Explorers Society (Unexso) is the most established underwater outfitter on the island.
