Marmaris Shopping and Districts

(Marmaris, Mugla Province, Turkey)

Plaza viewShopping options in Marmaris are pretty funky, with buzzing bazaars, modern malls and a quaint Old Town loaded with stalls and boutiques. Markets run on different days of the week, while the Grand Bazaar is an always-open affair.

Here you can pick up a vast range of items, more so than in any other shopping destination in the city. Think Turkish Delight, rugs, embroidered traditional Turkish clothing (including fake designer labels), as well as food and drink. Shopping can also be enjoyed along Marmaris Beach and around the harbour.

When to Shop and Where

The focus is mainly on the bazaars in Marmaris (street markets featuring all sorts), as with elsewhere in Turkey, which arguably offer the best shopping experience. There are always a great range of items displayed, including clothes, rugs, bags, shoes, handicrafts and especially jewellery. You will need to haggle to get a realistic price, but the vendors are all open to it.

The Carsi Market (Marmaris Grand Bazaar) is the biggest bazaar in the city, offering a huge range of produce in the central square. This is the most popular shopping destination for locals and tourists alike, and includes traditional vendors and shops.

Marmaris also has several shopping centres, including the Karacan Point Centre on the main boulevard. This popular complex comes with dozens of stores, along with a supermarket and food court. Next to the Dolmus station, the Tansas Shopping Centre is a good place to get reasonably priced groceries.
