Marmaris Beaches and Water Sports

(Marmaris, Mugla Province, Turkey)

Summer beachfront photoAlthough man-made, Marmaris Beach is a fine stretch of sand and the main attraction for most visitors. It is right in front of the city around the harbour, and is clean and well furnished with facilities. There are loungers and umbrellas on the beach - perhaps too many - along with a decent range of water sports action, including jet-skiing, banana boat rides and parasailing.

There are several other good beaches within reach of Marmaris and it often makes a nice change to explore. The popular Icmeler Beach is nearby and conveniently close to hotels and shopping, although it is also often rather busy. Gunluk Park Beach is generally much more laid-back, while off to the east is the sublime Turtle Beach, located in the town of Dalyan.

General Information

Many holiday makers choose to take a cruise along the coastline, enjoying views of the turquoise waters, secluded coves, mountainous coastline and old ruins.

Most boats stop off at Paradise Island (Cennet Adasi), which plays an important part in enclosing the bay and is where you will discover a tranquil and somewhat leafy beach. Feeding the friendly fish in the water surrounding Paradise Island is certainly likely to be a highlight of any trip.
