Basel Parks and Gardens

(Basel, Basel-Stadt, Switzerland)

Botanischer Garten Bruglingen photo (Botanical Gardens)Although Basel is by no means a city of parks, there are still plenty of green spaces, gardens and public squares. For one of the city's best collections of plant species, the Basel Botanical Gardens are hard to beat, while for children, the array of wildlife at the Tierpark Langen Erlen is sure to make for a great day out.

Football lovers should pay a visit Basel's St. Jakob's Park, which is not only home to pleasant parkland surroundings, but a modern sports stadium. Opened in the spring of 2001 and costing more than 200 million Swiss Francs to construct, St. Jakob's Stadium is home to over 30 different shops and restaurants, and is also used for ice hockey matches during the winter months.
