The overall weather in Lloret de Mar is welcoming year-round, with its summers pleasantly hot without excessive humidity causing discomfort. In the high season of July and August, temperatures rise to around 29°C / 84°F with eight to nine hours of sunshine daily and little rainfall. Lloret's climate is classified as mild Mediterranean, with hot summers and cool winters. Due to its location on the Costa Brava, Spain's northernmost resort area, the climate is on average cooler than in the rest of the country due to the Mediterranean's cooling effect, causing increased rainfall.

Lloret de Mar is subject to its own micro climate as a result of its being protected from the north winds by the nearby mountains. Average annual rainfall is around 1000 mm / 39 inches, but full days of sunshine are common throughout the year and the amount of rain encourages greening of the countryside, whilst discouraging the searing heat of summer, which occurs in the regions away from the coast.

The high season in July and August sees the highest visitor numbers, with hotels and beaches crowded and both noise levels and prices increased. May, June and September enjoy temperatures in the mid 20s and, although most of the year's rain falls in May and June, this is a good time to visit as there are fewer tourists. June and October are considered to be the best times to holiday here, although October is characterised by an occasional rainstorm.

The winter climate in Lloret de Mar is cool, and occasionally cold. January is typically the coldest month, followed by December and, although average highs sit around 13°C / 55°F, the daytime temperature can fall well below this, particularly at night. Snowy weather is a rare occurrence and days are often overcast and damp. Even so, the town is a great deal more pleasant in winter than the UK and northern Europe.
