Lloret de Mar Beaches and Water Sports

(Lloret de Mar, Catalonia, Spain)

Lloret de Mar has five main beaches along a 7-km / 4-mile stretch of coastline, and all have been awarded the EEC Blue Flag for cleanliness. The specific beaches of Lloret de Mar and Fenals are a mixture of shingles and sand, and come with extensive water sports facilities

Canyelles' shingle beach has a harbour, while the beach of Santa Cristina features fine sand and rental pedaloes, sunbeds and hammocks. Nearby Sa Boadella Beach lies in a remote cove with few services, and provides a peaceful and scenic spot for relaxing.

General Information

Lloret de Mar Beach
This stretch (approximately 1.6 km / 1 mile) is the town's principal beach and gently slopes towards the Mediterranean Sea. The beachfront has become quite urbanised over the years as the package holiday industry has developed, and many modern hotel complexes are now based here. Subsequent facilities are excellent and you won't have far to walk if you are in need of a toilet or shower, looking for a new bikini or sunglasses, or simply need an ice cream. Those wishing to try their hand at water sports will find that the Lloret de Mar Beach offers windsurfing, jet skiing and water skiing, as well as pedalo boats and parasailing.

Fenals Beach
Fenals Beach measures in at just over 700 metres / 2,300 feet in length and has only come to the attention of tourists in recent years. The shallow water surrounding this small cove is suitable for both paddling and swimming, and there are jet skis available for hire if you are feeling adventurous.

Sa Boadella Beach
The smallest of all the beaches in the Lloret de Mar area, Sa Boadella Beach is just over 250 metres / 820 feet in length and is often rather quiet, due to its relative remoteness and lack of amenities. This is just the place to come if you wish to escape the crowds of sunbathing holiday makers.

Santa Cristina Beach
At just under 500 metres / 1,640 feet long, Santa Cristina Beach is Lloret de Mar's sandiest beach and is fronted by a number of lively restaurants, bars and small food stands (chiringuitos). It is possible to hire sun loungers here, while others come to practice their hand at diving.

Canyelles Beach
Mainly made up of fine shingle, Canyelles Beach comes with its very own water skiing academy and harbour. Stretching for around 450 metres / 1,475 feet in length and some 40 metres / 130 feet in width, Canyelles is located roughly 3 km / 2 miles from Lloret De Mar, in the direction of Tossa de Mar.
