Hypermarkets and big supermarkets are also available in Marbella, together with local arts and crafts stores, fashion boutiques, gift shops and glitzy shopping malls.

One of the best ways to shop in the centre of Marbella is to simply walk around the streets, with all notable clusters of shops being easy to find, together with cafés and restaurants.

Marbella's main thoroughfare, the Avenida Ricardo Soriano, is a major shopping district and home to some of the area's best shops and top fashion boutiques, seeming to stretch for miles.


For more traditional shopping and local stores, head to the Old Town area of Marbella, where you will find a good selection of art galleries, handicraft stores and ideas for gifts. The Puerto Banús area of Marbella is also known for its arts and crafts, with a number of top galleries on offer. Those looking to experience the fun and character of a local flea market should visit Marbella's Nueva Andalucia market, which takes place every Saturday morning and offers an array of genuine bargains, leather goods, antiques, bric-a-brac and souvenirs.

Opening Hours

Shops in Marbella generally open between 09:00 to 10:00, closing at 20:00 or even later, Monday to Friday, although hours are reduced on Saturdays. Many of Marbella's stores choose to take a long lunch break for as much as three or four hours, during the afternoon siesta period, although some larger shops remain open throughout the day. The majority of shops and shopping centres in Marbella remain closed on Sundays, although some do open for limited hours, particularly in central Marbella.
